Quote
Hey! This is a rare happening, I ran across a John Calvin quote over the weekend that I actually agree with:
“The scripture should be read with the aim of finding Christ in them. Whoever turns aside from this object, even though he wears himself out all his life in learning, he will never reach the knowledge of the truth.”—John Calvin
Jon, I will reply to that the same way Wesley responded to a woman asking him if he expected to see George Whitefield in heaven: "No." pregnant pause... "He will be so close to the throne that from my view at the back, God's light will hide any view of him."
Shocking! I agree with it too.
ReplyDeleteIt must be spurious!
JPS,
ReplyDeleteDo you believe that you will see Calvin in heaven some day????
I think I'll see Calvin in heaven some day, provided he's graduated from the remedial theology class by then!
ReplyDeleteKevin, maybe so : )
