The self-gift of Christ

What Paul is discussing in [Galatians] 2:16 are not complete soteriological systems, but the evidential basis on which God can consider someone “righteous” (or worthy) in his sight. “Christ-faith” (or “faith in Christ”) is the sign of a prior, transformative event: it is the mode of life generated by the self-gift of Christ (2:20).—J.
