Early Augustine vs. later (or, predistination or freed will?)

Interestingly, some of Augustine’s opponents in this battle used Augustine’s own early writings, in which he argued that a rational being can only be corrupted if the person’s will consents to the corruption, as ammunition against him. Augustine holds strongly to divine predestination, but also wants to maintain human responsibility for sin.
