Vertical? Horizontal? Yes!

Paul assumes the inseparability of orthodoxy and orthopraxy, and he assumes the inseparability of the vertical and the horizontal in the atonement. some may be tempted to say, “Paul is talking about ethics, not atonement.” Therein lies the kind of problem that Paul addresses; ethics is not a separate category! ethics is atonement in action, not as a supplement, but as constitutive of atonement itself.
