Blessed are the pure in heart

369 Greenwood. S. M.

1 Blessed are the pure in heart,
   for they shall see our God.
   The secret of the Lord is theirs;
   their soul is Christ's abode.

2 Still to the lowly soul
   He doth himself impart
   and for his temple and his throne
   Selects the pure in heart.

3 Lord, we Thy presence seek;
   May ours this blessing be:
   O give the pure and lowly heart,
   a temple meet for Thee!

<idle musing>
I don't recall singing this hymn, but I do like the sentiments and theology of it.

Hymnary.org inserts a second verse (and interestingly, so did the 1917 Methodist hymnal):

2 The Lord, who left the heavens
   His life and peace to bring,
   Who dwelt in lowliness with men,
   Their Pattern and their King;
