Psalm 51

“Verses 12–14[10–12] [of Psalm 51] take the psalmist’s request to a new level. Having asked for the mercy of God, the psalmist implores God for nothing short of an inner renewal of the affections so as to avoid replicating the sinful patterns of the past.
