Chrysostom's theodicy

Chrysostom consistently argues that the gospel of Christ has effectively sucked the poison out of the Christian's suffering. The realities God has introduced into the world through Christ have conquered harm as a continuing, unjust, unrighteous reality, a permanent source of lasting damage to the Christian. And he would know about suffering! If you don't know his story, you should read about him. He was exiled for standing up against the emperor. In those days "speaking truth to power" didn't get you a social media following! It got you exile, and probably death.
