Testing God

Testing may come by the initiative of God, or it may be expressed in the actions and attitudes of the people. “Lead us not into testing” means ‘don’t put us to the test,’ even as it articulates the plea: ‘don’t let us test you.’ In either case, the only way to avoid such testing was to be committed and faithful.—David A.
